1. In light of increasing costs in all aspects of business, from production to shipping, Buddy Belt has decided to cease offering volume discounts on orders instead of increasing costs. 6. How many BUDDY BELTS will a dog need in its lifetime?

From a puppy to adulthood, the average dog will require 3 BUDDY BELTS. A BUDDY BELT, if taken care of properly, will last many years. BUDDY BELT wearers usually have one BUDDY BELT for everyday wear and one for special occasions. There are many BUDDY BELT wearers that have a BUDDY BELT for every occasion.

7. How do I measure and fit my dog for a BUDDY BELT?

• Follow these important steps when selecting the correct size BUDDY BELT for your dog:
• Measure girth (full circle all the way around body, directly behind your pet’s front legs), confirm weight, then size.
• To fit, place BB on ground topside down and position front legs through holes. Your dog should be standing on all four legs when being fitted for their BUDDY BELT. The buckle always goes to your pet’s left paw.
• Wrap BB around body and fasten it between your pet’s shoulder blades. An ideal fit will allow enough room for a finger or two to slip underneath when you give a light tug up on the o-ring. When buckled the BB should comfortably fasten at one of the three middle holes. There are five holes in total. If your dog is still growing the tightest hole is acceptable, as long as the BB still fits snugly. If your dog is wearing a coat or sweater, the end hole is acceptable. Never wear a BUDDY BELT on your dog that is too small or too big. BUDDY BELTS are designed for a customized fit.

First of all it’s important to remember that all dogs are unique and some may be more sensitive and need more time to adjust to their new BUDDY BELT. In very rare instances a dog may experience sensitivity around the front armpit areas. As with a new pair of leather shoes, there may be some discomfort before the BUDDY BELT is broken in. It is important to monitor your dog’s behavior when first wearing their BUDDY BELT. Observe how they walk as well as inspect their underarm area after initial periods of wear. Extra soft removable BUDDY BELT liners are recommended for sensitive dogs or simply as added comfort until the BUDDY BELT softens and customizes itself to fit your dog.

Try to avoid products with silicone and/or wax as these ingredients tend to break down the natural oils in leather. Apply product initially and every two to three months with regular wear. Please note that the BUDDY BELT is not intended for swimming or other full water play. To clean your BUDDY BELT, gently blot liquid stains with a damp cloth. BUDDY BELTS are made of leather. Before initial wear, it is highly recommended that you treat your BUDDY BELT with a quality water and stain repellent product. If your BUDDY BELT gets wet, allow it to dry flat at room temperature.  Never put leather in the dryer. For suede BUDDY BELTS, buff with a soft towel to restore the surface. Try to avoid products with silicone and/or wax as these ingredients tend to break down the natural oils in leather. Apply product initially and every two to three months with regular wear. Please note that the BUDDY BELT is not intended for swimming or other full water play. To clean your BUDDY BELT, gently blot liquid stains with a damp cloth. In the event of salt stains from winter wear, wipe with a clean, damp cloth after each wear and dry naturally. Re-treat as necessary.

14. Is it possible to wear a sweater or coat with the BUDDY BELT? 

Yes. The BUDDY BELT can be worn over top of a sweater or coat, provided that you have enough room for adjustability. Another option is to purchase a second BUDDY BELT, one size larger, just for winter. There are some coats/sweaters that include a hole at the top in order to accommodate BUDDY BELT so it can be worn underneath.

BUDDY BELTS are available in 5 Regular colours: red, black, pink, blue and caramel. Limited Edition colours, referred to as Special, Fancy, Rare and One-Of-A-Kind colours are subject to availability and additional costs.

17. Where does a leash and ID tag(s) attach?

Both the leash and ID tags are attached to the sliding o-ring. The o-ring slides to accommodate leash mobility while the BUDDY BELT stays snugly in place. ID tags may also be attached to a BB Matching ID Collar.

18. Why are BUDDY BELTS made with leather instead of nylon or some other material?

The BUDDY BELT design and production process requires a material that is ‘self-healing’. This means that once the material is cut, the edges will not fray. Leather is a natural material that has self-healing properties. Not only is leather durable, it also softens and moulds to the body for a custom fit. It is very important to note that leather is tear and puncture resistant.

19. Should I take any precautions when applying my pet’s liquid flea treatment, considering that it is applied between the shoulder blades directly beneath where the BUDDY BELT sits? 

In some cases the leather and oil can create a problem, but this usually cleans up easily with mild soap and water. It is best to allow the treatment to sit for a few hours if possible, before wearing the BUDDY BELT.

20. What warranty exists for BUDDY BELT?

Quality workmanship and care are engineered into every BUDDY BELT product. We will offer a 90-day guarantee on any manufacturing or hardware defects. This guarantee does not cover leather breakage due to chewing or anything else that compromises the integrity of the material beyond normal wear. It is important to note that leather is naturally puncture and tear resistant. BUDDY BELT has been thoroughly tried and tested to ensure that the materials used are of the best quality. BUDDY BELT is an accessory item and Class Art Productions Inc. assumes no liability. The use of the product and safety of the pet is completely at the purchaser’s discretion and responsibility. In the event of a defect, please contact your retail point of purchase first. No refunds, repairs, exchanges or replacements will be issued without a Customer Service Form (to be filled out by the Retailer), along with proof of purchase (copy of receipt).
